Audio Gold was founded in the early 1990's by Richard Goldsmith, who's in this 360 picture of our first shop, fixing a Roberts Radio. For 10 years Richard populated the best households of the area with superb secondhand HiFi. We daily speak to people who's systems, bought way back then are still working well and giving pleasure today.
 Today Audio Gold occupies an old Bank Building, full of secondhand HiFi and new equipment too. A purposefully diverse, colourful range of audio from wind-up gramaphones to WiFi radios, designed to meet the needs of what has become a wonderfully diverse clientelle.The main emphasis is on high quality secondhand HiFi from the 1980's and 1990's, a time when British makers such as Quad and Arcam as well as the Japanese and Americans, were probably making their most engagingly musical, reliable equipment.
With the internet drawing so many people from high street shops, we think that a contemporary real shop needs to be everything the internet isn't. That means real people with knowledge to help you choose your kit properly. It means a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which to browse shelves stocked with a diverse choice of things you might never have thought of, let alone found on the internet. It means you can listen to the kit first and it means you have real backup should you need help setting things up, if it doesn't sound right or if kit goes wrong.
 Audio Gold is about not junking perfectly good kit in Land Fill, but weeding out the weak links in your system and replacing them with something special to bring the whole thing to life - Then making sure your iPod, Laptop and TV are nicely connected. MP3's and flat screen TV's love the big rich sound of real HiFi.
Above all, Audio Gold is about connecting people with the music they love, which is after all the point of great HiFi. So we spend a little time, listen to different equipment and combintions, until it's just right, until people start to grin and even dance in the shop. It's worth the effort because a fabulous system that suits you and your music lasts years, bringing favourite music to life in your living room day after day.
Our customers tell us all the time that their new HiFi is a joy, that it has made them get their favourite music out again to hear afresh - and they send their friends to us. These days most of our customers arrive through recomendation and so many people who walk in for the first time say things like "Wow!, what a brilliant shop..." hopefully we're getting where we want to be - one of the best shops in London.
